I meant to post this yesterday, but other matters were more pressing (like teaching of course, and then speaking at Shift). I recently earned a Westminster Bookstore gift certificate, and here’s how I spent it:

- The Shadow of Christ in The Law of Moses by Vern Poythress
- The Returning King: A Guide to The Book of Revelation by Vern Poythress
- The Federal Vision and Covenant Theology: A Comparative Analysis by Guy Waters
- Every Good Endeavor: Connecting Your Work to God’s Work by Tim Keller
I had been sitting on an Amazon Gift Card as well, and I spent that one getting these 2 books (with an extra charge of $0.61):
- The Mystery of God: Theology For Knowing The Unknowable by Christopher Hall & Steven Boyer
- C. S. Lewis – A Life: Eccentric Genius, Reluctant Prophet by Alister McGrath
Really looking forward to the Lewis biography, I hear it’s pretty stellar. It should be here Tuesday (and other one is coming sometime today).
You’ll notice in the picture, at the bottom, a copy of Christ-Centered Biblical Counseling, which I actually have two of. I’ll be reviewing it in a couple of weeks, keeping one copy, and offering the other as a giveaway.
Also in for a giveaway is two copies of Robert Plummer’s 40 Question About Interpreting the Bible. I actually already have my own, so that means the giveaway will include both copies.
Last but not least, IVP Academic was kind enough to send along a copy of Michael Bird’s Jesus is The Christ: The Messianic Testimony of The Gospels. Bird is always a pleasure to read, so I’m looking forward to digging into that as well.
If you’re keeping score, I’ve still successfully stayed on book probation, and everything listed on here came with only an expense of $0.61, which is pretty good per book cost!

I appreciate all the titles that you are suggesting. As I shared in an earlier post, I too am a high school teacher, but of English, not the Bible. However, I am an avid theological student, who is in love with searching the scriptures and reading as much as possible of the old and the new books on the deep things of God. Thanks for sharing.
