Around this time last month, I posted my February Update as part of Tim Challies Reading Challenge. Reading was down slightly this past month, as was blogging. That was mainly because I had spring break and took advantage of having spring training games in my backyard. That, and I’ve started watching Mad Men. Once again, I have a slightly more annotated list this time around. Key word is slightly. I’ve also truncated the checklist to just include books I’ve finished at this point. If you want the whole list, see either my January Update or Challies original post.
Here’s the March reads:
- People To Be Loved: Why Homosexuality Is Not Just An Issue
- See my review
- The Whole Christ: Legalism, Antinomianism, and Gospel Assurance
- I’ll have more to about this one when I post a review
- Locating Atonement: Explorations in Constructive Dogmatics
- This is most recent collection of essays from the Los Angeles Theology Conference. Already looking forward to the ones from this year being in print later this fall.
- Karl Barth’s Church Dogmatics: An Introduction and Reader
- See my review
- The Work of Christ (Contours in Christian Theology)
- I’d highly recommend all the volumes in this series. I’ve had this one for a while and finally got aroudn to reading it.
- Christological Anthropology In Historical Perspective
- I’ll have post on this one at some point, maybe not a full review though.
- The God Ask
- I’ll explain in the next month or so why I read this.
- King’s Cross: The Story of The World in The Life of Jesus
- Still working my way through Keller’s writings. I wish I had read this a few years ago when our church was going through Mark.
- Smarter, Faster, Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business
- I really liked the Power of Habit, and so grabbed this as soon as it was released. Maybe not as revolutionary (for me at least) as the previous work, but definitely a good read.
- Mad Men and Philosophy
- Since I’ve been watching the series, I wanted to read this. It only covers the first three seasons, and I just started season 4. Hoping there’s another collection down the road.
- Theological Theology: Essays in Honor of John Webster
- Glad I could get a review copy of this because it is way out of my price range. When it’s available in paperback, you should probably try to get a hold of it.
- Theology and The Mirror of Scripture: A Mere Evangelical Account
- Anything by Vanhoozer is going to end up on my shelf and this is no exception. I’ll have more to say when I review it.
